Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)
The moment was custom made to order
I was riding with my daughter on
our way back from Monroe.
And like children do, she started
playin' twenty questions,
But I never could've guessed one
would touch me to my soul.
She said, "Daddy when we get to Heaven,
can I taste the Milky Way?
Are we going there to visit, or
are we goin' there to stay?
Am I going to see my Grandpa? Can
I have a pair of wings?
And do you think that God could
use another Angel,
To help pour out the rain?"
Well, I won't lie: I pulled that
car right over,
And I sat there on the shoulder
tryin' to dry my misty eyes.
And I whispered... Lord, I want
to thank you for my children
Cause your innocence that fills
them often takes me by surprise.
Like: Daddy, when we get to Heaven,
can I taste the Milky Way?
Are we going there to visit, or
are we going there to stay?
Am I going to see my Grandpa? Can
I have a pair of wings?
And do you think that God could
use another Angel,
To help pour out the rain?
Well, I thought about it later on,
And a smile came to my face.
And when I tucked her in to bed,
I got down on my knees and prayed.
Lord, when I get to Heaven can I
taste the Milky Way?
I don't want to come to visit 'cause
I'm comin' home to stay
And I can't wait to see my family
and meet Jesus face to face.
And do you think, Lord, you could
use just one more Angel,
To help pour out the rain?
Mmmm, can I help pour out the rain?

Sweet Southern
Comfort
Misty sunrise in my hometown,
Rows of cotton bout knee high,
Mrs. Baker down the dirt road,
Still got clothes out on the line,
Erwin Nichols there with Judge Lee,
Playin checkers at the gin,
When I dream about the southland,
This is where it all begins
From Carolina down to Georgia,
Smell the jasmine and magnollia,
Sleepy Sweet home Alabama,
Roll tide roll,
Muddy water, Misssissippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on,
Catchin catfish on the river,
Chasin fireflies by the creek,
Kissin Debbie Williams sister,
On the porch Homecoming week,
With rusty cars and weeping willows,
Keepin watch out in the yard,
Just a snapshot of downhome Dixie,
Could be anywhere you are,
In Carolina or in Georgia,
Open arms are waitin for ya,
Louisianna yellow rose of San Antone,
Arkansas, Mississippi,
Old man river whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on,
As I sit here I'm surrounded,
By these priceless memories,
I don't have to think about it,
There's no place I'd rather be,
In Carolina or in Georgia,
Smell the jasmine and magnollia,
Sleepy Sweet home Alabama,
Roll tide roll,
Muddy water, Misssissippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on.

I Can
Get By
In a simple life dreams die hard
You never let'em go
All the while you play your hands
And you may never know
Why it's always lady luck
On someone else's palm they read
You holding my two hands
Is really all I need
I can get by if it all fell through
Right down to the bottom of my list
I can get by lookin' back on life
Find that I've too many things I've
missed
I can get by without doing
All the crazy things some people
do
But I wouldn't wanna try even
Barely gettin' by without you
Many things I've come to need
That I could do without
And many more I've done without
I could come to need
The one thing that I'd fight to
keep
Until my days are through
Is when I lay me down to sleep
I'm lyin' next to you
I can get by if it all fell through
Right down to the bottom of my list
I can get by lookin' back on life
Find that I've too many things I've
missed
I can get by without doing
All the crazy things some people
do
But I wouldn't wanna try even
Barely gettin' by without you
I can get by if it all fell through
Right down to the bottom of my list
I can get by lookin' back on life
Finding I've too many things I've
missed
Barely gettin' by without you
I can get by if it all fell through
Right down to the bottom of my list
I can get by lookin' back on life
Find that I've too many things I've
missed
I can get by without doing
All the crazy things some people
do
But I wouldn't wanna try even
Barely gettin' by without you.

You Know
How Women Are
So long fellas, I gotta go,
Told her I wasn't gonna be but an
hour or so,
I know she's bound to worry, 'bout
me and that old car.
It's not that she don't trust me,
But you know how women are.
A few weeks back, they took my job,
The money's tight, times are
gonna be hard.
I know what's on her mind, but she
ain't said a word so far,
She's tryin' not to let it show,
But you know how women are.
She stands right beside me, win or
lose,
She'll reach deep down inside and
find a way to pull me through.
She can see a silver lining in the
darkest of news.
She loves to hear me say "I love
you" whispered in the dark,
You know how women are.
Sent her flowers the other day,
We had words and you know I had
my say,
I knew right then that I was wrong,
I thought, ' damn my foolish heart,
Because she means the world to me,
And you know how women are.
She stands right beside me, win or
lose,
She'll reach deep down inside and
find a way to pull me through.
She can see a silver lining in the
darkest of news.
She loves to hear me say "I love
you" whispered in the dark,
You know how women are. (Back

Why We
Said Goodbye
I remember Sunday mornings walking
on the beach
And that place we'd stop for breakfast
with the old red vinyl seats
The hours of the tide chart
The way the sunlight dance upon
your face
That antique roller coaster you just
had to ride
I remember how you laughed at the
terror in my eyes
The color and the detail
Just like it was yesterday
And I remember how you held me the
night my father died
I didn't have to tell you
I just broke down and cried
You're sewn into the fabric, the
pieces of my life
And I just can't remember why we
said goodbye
Up and down this boardwalk lonely
people sit
I know it wasn't perfect but nothin'
ever is
The sails out in the harbor
Are searching for the wind
I just had to call you, I had to
hear your voice
And tell you I still love you we
still have a choice
You're sewn into the fabric, the
pieces of my life
And I just can't remember why we
said goodbye
Everything I do
Leads back to you
I know I just can't let us go
There must have been a reason, but
I can't remember now
I know if I could hold you we could
work it out
You're sewn into the fabric the
pieces of my life
And girl let's give it one more
try
Cause I just can't remember why
we said goodbye. (Back to Top)
Today I Started
Loving You Again (With Miranda Lambert)
Miranda: Today I started loving
you again
I'm right back where I've really
always been
Buddy: I got over
you just long enough to let my heartache mend
Then today, I started loving you
again
Miranda: What a fool I was
to think I could get by
With only these few millions tears
I cry
Buddy: I should
have known the worst was yet to come
And that crying time for me had
just begun
Both: Cause
today I started loving you again
I'm right back where I've really
always been
I got over you just long enough
to let my heartache mend
Then today I started loving you
again
Both: Well
today I started loving you again
I'm right back where I've really
always been
I got over you just long enough
to let my heartache mend
Then today I started loving you
again
Then today I started loving you
again. (Back to Top)
Abilene
On Her Mind
She said her mind was made up,
As she put on her make-up,
Said there was nothing here for
her,
She just packed up her suitcase,
And she walked right out that fromt
gate,
With her taxi waiting at the curb,
Too many empyty nights alone,
Too late I realize,
It's a cryin shame it took her tears,
To open up my eyes,
I should have seen, Abilene,
On her mind,
Her leavin me, and Tennessee,
Far behind,
Should have seen her growin' lonely,
All alone there waitin' on me,
All the warnin' sings were there,
But I was blind,
I should have seen Abilene,
On her mind,
Last night the band played Dallas,
I sang the song I wrote about us,
And you could feel the sadness in
the air,
After the show was over,
I a hand lay on my shoulder,
Turned around and found her standin'
there,
She said after all these years,
It's nice to know your dreams came
true,
And the wedding band there on her
hand,
Told me that hers had to,
I should have seen, Abilene,
On her mind,
Her leavin me, and Tennessee,
Far behind,
Should have seen her growin' lonely,
All alone there waitin' on me,
All the warnin' sings were there,
But I was blind,
I should have seen Abilene,
On her mind,
I should have seen Abilene,
On her mind,
Abilene,
On her mind. (Back
